It provides Japan’s peaceful environment in wooden and bamboo-built lounge and steals our heart with aromatic, musical ambience and warm lighting. Traditional Japanese plates, vessels, dolls and even dresses beautify this quiet place.

Japanese Manager, Ms. Maco Hidama, has 30 years of knowledge in Restaurant business and Grand Japanese Hotels in Thailand. To serve Nepalese Customers with Japanese delicacy, Ms. Maco states that she had waited 25 years. Now, she has been managing Japanese Restaurants in Dwarika’s Hotel, Kathmandu and Dwarika’s Resort, Dhulikhel for more than 3 years. She is enthusiastic and stern regarding the Japanese cuisine and its delivery. Maco’s have served customers from China, European Nations, Japanese Embassy, but only a few Nepalese which disheartens her.

The Maco’s Restaurant accommodates around 50 people but serves as per customers’ decent preference for seat around hotel premises. Maco confidently says “No Oily, No Salty and No Spicy.” Chef Laxman Lama with more than 13 years of specialization in Japanese cuisine has been working in Maco’s since its establishment. As in Japanese Culture, Green Tea, one of the healthiest drinks around the world, is served at first, with vegetarian Starter dish containing mainly cucumber and carrot. California Maki is an exotic Japanese roll, usually made inside-out, containing cucumber, crab meat, and avocado. It should be dipped in soysauce before eating. No Japanese meal is complete without famous Sushi where Sticky rice is rolled with cucumber, carrot and crabstick. With them, Miso Soup made up of Soybean goes really fine. A bowl of Horenso Spinach mingled with sesame is also tabled. Excellence can be tasted in Tempura which is made by frying prawn, egg and other vegetables crumbled in imported Tempura flour. They are best served hot with dipping soysauce with mereen water, ginger and radish paste. One should also try Teppanayaki, where customers choose among Chicken, Pork, Salmon, Prawn, etc. which are grilled or broiled with pepper, butter and salt. To enhance the taste, it is served with salad, sesame paste and soy sauce.  Finally, one should try Teriyaki, a cuisine in which meat is sauce-fried and comes with its own special salad. For Drinks, Maco’s Restaurant recommends Plum Wine or Japanese Traditional homemade drink named Hot or Cold Sake made from imported ingredients from Japan.

The desserts served here are nowhere else found in Nepal. The homemade green tea flavored ice-cream is mouth-watering. And, the Tempura Ice-cream will intrigue you both by its taste and way of preparation. It is uniquely prepared by frying tempura flour around the ice-cream within seconds before ice-cream melts.

Ms. Pallavi Singh, the Marketing Executive, confirms, “With benevolent waiters, sophisticated Japanese culture is reflected in this part of Dwarika’s Hotel.” Not only customers are served best quality Japanese cuisines, but they are also taught the proper eating way, thus proving Ms. Maco’s delightful claim: “There’s no target.
