After an early morning gives way to an upbeat afternoon heat, one can surely understand the summer has hit the town. However, soothing ambience can lift your mood immediately after you enter Café Mitini, located away from hustles and bustles of Lazimpat area, few minutes from Shangrila Hotel. Here you could spend entire afternoon over hand drip coffees, drinks, desserts and can truly believe that life is good.
Café Mitini is run by S.E.A centre, a Korean social enterprise running the restaurant business. The profit earned by 'Mitini' is utilized for all the social works performed under S.E.A centre. At café Mitini, one can hang out and contribute for the social and noble cause at the same. Life wasn’t that easy until now.

As soon as you enter, at the very entrance to the right, one can have option to shop various handicrafts woven by Nepali women. One can never be bored at Mitini as it also offers wide range of books to read such as: herbs, travelling, economics etc to visitors. With these offerings, one can truly feel it more than a café. Settle yourself into the indoors or canopied outdoor setting, Café Mitini has seating arrangements that accommodates around 40 people. The place is accentuated by earthy decors and wooden tables with slight influence of Korean interiors.

Interiors at Mitini inspired by Korean Housing Style
Celebrated its first anniversary just two weeks ago, Jinsung oh (Jina), manager of Café Mitini calls Mitini a social café as it provides skill training for women to create jobs through café and also invigorate and promote the culture of coffee in Nepal.  They also provide seminar rooms available for other social aspects. Being a quite social entrepreneur herself Jina claims, “ Not only we provide varieties of Nepali coffee, drinks and light foods, but we also provide a quiet, comfortable and serene place to sit back and our wi-fi is also one of the best in town! (giggles)”

Handrip Coffee
One would be amazed to know that entire café is managed only by three people namely, Dawa Lamu Sherpa, Dabuti Sherpa and Jina herself. The place tries its best to introduce Nepali coffee for all the coffee lovers. Their Dutch coffee (since there is nothing like dutch coffee in Nepal) and hand brew coffee are a must to beat the heat of this summer and will definitely leave you wanting for second cup. “Hand-drip is one of the best ways to feel the character of coffee itself, because you can control the taste” says Jina.

Crep Set
A scoop of vanilla ice cream sitting in warm pancakes with banana filling and chocolate syrup sauce, Mitini’s pancakes with banana & chocolate chips is a sweet sweet heaven. Crepe set, soft and juicy, easy to cut, easy to chew, and could easily impress one with every bite. On the top of well-done crepe set, Crepe banana chocolate -one bite and all it takes to be able to grasp great texture, melting flavour of the chocolate and coolness of the dish. While you are at Café Mitini (and you really must go), even though it will be difficult, do try to save some room for dessert. They offer cakes with flavours ranging from banana, chocolate, cheese and walnut to linger your taste buds.

With the motto of “Let’s meet and be Mitini” and share stories of our lives, Café Mitini is indeed a social café with an ideal combination of good food, Nepali coffee and serene ambience.
